DUNDEE KZN: Bowlers enjoy great competition, fun

There was a convivial atmosphere at the Bowls Club this past weekend, with 13 teams competing in the Club Mixed Pairs Competition.

The teams were split up into two sections of four and one section of five, with the winners of the two sections of four going through to the semi-final, and the winner of the section of five going straight through to the final.

Sylvia Malan and Louis de Jager won their section, as did Willie Nel and Dora Joubert, booking themselves their place in the semi-final, to be played on the Sunday morning. In the section of five, it was Jacques and Taryn Bierbaum who found themselves in the final, winning all four of their games. Sylvia and Louis managed to win the semi-final, just edging out Willie and Dora by 14 points to 13.

The final was played on the Sunday afternoon in humid conditions. After the 15 ends were played, it was Jacques and Taryn who found themselves holding the trophy, winning the game by 14 points to 12.

Thank you to everyone who contributed in making the weekend such a great success. The Northern Zone Mixed Pairs Competition will be hosted by Dundee Bowling Club this coming weekend.
