Ladysmith KZN: First week back at school for the little ones

The first day at school is certainly a momentous occasion that invites a whole flood of emotions

The first week at Edukidz Pre-Primary School started with two days of Orientation for “new” learners. It goes without saying that each morning started with sanitizing, health checks, encouraging social distancing and checking that masks were correctly worn.

The first day at school is certainly a momentous occasion that invites a whole flood of emotions. There were hugs, smiles, photos and one or two tears (mostly from moms) as school started! The emotions experienced as parents and children said their goodbyes were certainly universal.

Edukidz is only in its first week, yet learning has already begun.

Being in a strange environment without mom and dad can be quite traumatic.

The busy routine, however, helps put smiles on the little faces behind the masks, and soon mom and dad are forgotten. Artwork has been done and proudly taken home to show mommy and daddy, puzzles have been built, and numbers have caused some confusion…

When children are young, they are learning sponges. Every new experience, every word they learn and the new behaviours they adopt are investments in a more fruitful future. You can never have a greater impression on a person than when they are in their early childhood years. As the great Nelson Mandela said: “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” Edukidz does just that for your little one!
