Three suspects, believed to be linked to a shooting incident in mid-December, have been arrested and detained.
According to a report, SAPS received information about a suspect wanted in connection with cases of murder and attempted murder. During the incident on December 16, 2020, one person was shot in the face and another was shot in the chest – one of the victims was killed, while the other survived.
Following the lead, an operational team including Newcastle Crime Intelligence, Newcastle Crime Prevention, Newcastle K9, the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team, the Anti Hijacking Unit, local security companies and officers moved to intercept the suspects this week.
“Three suspects were arrested… one firearm was recovered. Thanks to all who assisted – another job well done,” said Imran Ghafoor from the Crime Fighter Task Team.
