Ladysmith KZN: Long queues and booking of spots at Home Affairs

The Covid-19 social distance markers are littered with bottles, chip packets and rocks to indicate that those places are 'booked'

Home Affairs in Keate Street sees hundreds of people waiting in line each and every morning to get what they need from the department.

Home Affairs is known for long queues every day… Scarily, with the second wave of Covid-19 sweeping the country, there seems to be very little or no social distancing exercised by those queuing up to be served.

A businessman who went to Home Affairs early this morning (January 21), hoping to finish up quickly, was shocked to find that people had already ‘booked’ their places in the queue.

The Covid-19 social distance markers are littered with bottles, chip packets and rocks, with people shouting at others not to stand in those spots, as they have already been taken.

The businessman was shocked to find this happening and was forced to wait much farther along in the line due to the ‘claimed’ spots ahead of him.
