Ladysmith KZN: Load-shedding, power outages and burst pipes affect water supply

The situation is compounded by recurrent power failure once the power supply is restored

uThukela District Municipality would like to inform the community of Alfred Duma Local Municipality that their water treatment works (WTW) plants – which include Ezakheni, Tugela Estates and Oliphantskop – have been negatively affected by load-shedding.

There is also a burst pipe in Ezakheni that is being attended to by the municipality’s technical team.

Consumers should note that if uThukela experiences a two-hour power outage at the WTW plants, they lose more than four ‘process and production’ hours in total.

The situation is compounded by recurrent power failure once the power supply is restored.

At Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, the Loskop Water Treatment Works is also currently experiencing  power outages. Eskom has been alerted and is expected to attend to the problem to restore power.

The following wards are affected by water shortages: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Water tankers have been arranged to distribute water in these areas.

The district municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
