Ladysmith KZN: 13-year-old youngster passes away in hospital

He was an exceptional rugby player and scholar

13-year-old Wandile Sikhakhane passed away after falling ill on Friday (January 8). He was rushed to La Verna Hospital and died on Saturday (January 9).

His Egerton rugby coach had this to say: “You have been an inspiration to us all. One of the fittest rugby players I have coached, with a ‘never give up’ mentality and a heart of gold. You will be sorely missed, but the memories will stay with us coaches for a very long time. Condolences to the family during this time. 13 years old is definitely too early for your departure to Heaven,” said Hugo Buitendach.

School principal Mr Slabbert expressed his sadness at the youngster’s passing. “Our condolences to the Sikhakhane family.”
