ESTCOURT KZN: Thunderstorms cause sweeping power loss across the province
“Eskom teams worked around the clock to restore power to most affected areas"
Parts of Estcourt and Bergville have been listed as areas that experienced power outages due to thunderstorms that swept across parts of KwaZulu-Natal yesterday (January 5).
This in turn caused widespread network faults.
“Eskom teams worked around the clock to restore power to most affected areas. Customers are advised to treat all installations as live for safety reasons,” said spokesperson Joyce Zingoni.
She added that teams are on the ground restoring power to affected areas that also included Rookdale, Ladysmith and Jozini, among others.
“Eskom urges the public to stay away from low hanging conductors and fallen structures and to report these to the contact centre on 086-003-7566,” concluded Ms Zingoni.
