BERGVILLE KZN: Year-long search for missing man intensifies

The 35-year-old from the Emlimeleni area was last seen on August 23, 2019 by his girlfriend when he left for work

Family and police are at their wits end as the search for a missing Bergville man has once again turned up unsuccessful.

They have now turned to the public in the hope that Siphelele Dlamini can be located.

The 35-year-old from the Emlimeleni area was last seen on August 23, 2019 by his girlfriend when he left for work.

Mr Dlamini told his girlfriend that he would be driving a truck to Johannesburg.

“He later contacted her and informed her that he was in Vosloorus. It was the last time he was contacted on his cell phone. The communication between them broke down after that,” explained police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.

After several months had passed without word from Mr Dlamini, his mother reported him missing at the Bergville police station on February 24, 2020.

Police investigations have thus far been futile.

“All leads have been followed as well as cell phone footage was investigated but to no avail. Any person who can assist with any information that can lead the police to trace the whereabouts of Siphelele Dlamini can contact the Bergville SAPS on 036-448-9451 or the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Mncwabe on 082-517-9080,” said Captain Nyathi.
