Ladysmith KZN: Police station closed as detectives catch coronavirus

Police take strain as Covid-19 surge hits home

Residents serviced by Ladysmith and Besters SAPS are advised that both police stations have been temporarily closed due to six members of the Detective Branch in Ladysmith and one member at Besters SAPS testing positive for Covid-19 today (Tuesday, December 29).

The Community Service Centre (CSC) for Besters SAPS will now operate from marked police vehicles that will be parked just outside the main building (Besters SAPS), and Ladysmith SAPS will be operating from 35 Buckingham Street (Stock Theft Unit) – which is not far from the police station – for the convenience of the community.

The SAPS can be called on 0366382597 for all emergencies and complaints, which will be attended to accordingly.

The telephone lines at both Besters and Ladysmith police stations, and Community Service Centres, will not be accessible for the duration of the closure. However, service delivery will not be hampered.

The buildings will be decontaminated and services will resume normally on Thursday (December 31).

SAPS management apologises for any inconvenience that may arise.

Ladysmith’s Acting Station Commander, Colonel TM Mngadi (0796963491), and Besters’ Acting Station Commander, Warrant Officer Sigasa (0824176485), can be contacted on their cell-phones.
