December 11 – Penryn Christmas Fair
Gracious Penryn, corner of Boundary Road and Union Street, is the venue for the first Penryn Christmas Fair. There will be creative gifts for sale, with lots of tasty food, under the superb directorship of Pieter Bester, all on the grounds of the beautiful Penryn garden. December 16, 26; and January 1 – ‘Local is Lekker’
Freedom Park, Sibongile, will be the venue for these exciting events on all the above dates! ‘Local is Lekker’ includes a variety of stalls, live local entertainment, Kids’ Corner and more. Bring along your own picnic basket and enjoy the day. Transport will be provided from other areas to the venue. Those attending are encouraged to bring any item of clothing, toys, tinned food, kids’ clothes, blankets, etc, to be donated to the needy. The fun gets underway from 10am. December 13 – Carols by Candlelight at Dundee Baptist Church Please join us for a blessed time of fellowship at 23 Cuthbert Street from 6.30pm.
December 16 – Festive Fun Run & Walk The SPCA will be hosting a Festive Fun Run & Walk at Dundee Country Club. There will also be a scooter race for the toddlers. Lucky draw prizes will be up for grabs and there will also be a prize for ‘Best Dressed’. Watch the press for details
. Blood River Commemoration
The annual Blood River Commemoration will start a few days ahead of December 16. Desember 14: 3nm – Inligtingsessie in die saal oor vervaardiging van brons waens; 7.30nm – Lanternloop na wa-laer (afhangende van belangstelling en weer). Dinsdag, 15 Desember om 9vm – Perde kommando ry vanaf De Jagersdrift na feesterrein. 9.30vm – Klei-os kompetisie, toutrek, skyfskiet, kettieskiet en jukskei. Middag: Aankoms van perde kommando en vlaghysing. 2nm – Kleiduifskiet. 4nm – Perdesport. 6nm – Volkspele / samesang in die saal. 7.30nm – Lanternloop na wa-laer met lekker volksliedjies vir jongspag. Woensdag, Desember 16 om 6nm – Biduur in die wa-laer. 8.30vm – Voorsang en erediens in die saal (Ds Ruan Combrink). 10.30vm – Wa-laer program, Perdekommando met vlagvoorstelling, Kranslegging, Gelofte aflegging, Historiese oorsig van slag met demonstrasie. 12nm – Piekniek / Braai (kole word voorgesien; braaipakke te koop).
