Ladysmith KZN: Queen T releases 2nd single, with a new song coming out next week

Telita has just signed a record deal with Bhavani Entertainment and will also be releasing a new song soon

“Everyone needs some form of art to escape reality from time to time. Some choose sculpting, painting or carpentry, but my escape is music.”

Ladysmith-born Telita Tyla Abraham, also known by her stage name ‘Queen T’, released her second single earlier this year called ‘Love Lives Here’, produced by renowned music producer Demor.

The single features the sounds of ‘deep house’ music. Her incredible talent as a singer, songwriter and musician falls gently on the ears.

Growing up… While many four-year-olds insist on watching Pippa Pig, this local tuned into MTV every chance she got to sing and dance along to her favourite songs. By the age of six, Telita was playing guitar and drums.

“My parents were so supportive in those early years; they realised I had real talent and they stopped at nothing to help me develop as an artist.”

From that point, there was no stopping this songbird. She sang in their church choir, school choir and even did private performances. In 2013, she released her first single called ‘All Over The World’.

The creative journey… “I see myself as a versatile artist; I enjoy all genres of music. I get inspired by the work of other performers. While I enjoy many genres, I think Rihanna deserves a special mention!” Queen T likes to mix things up a bit by adding various genres to a single song or mashing up ideas to create something fresh and new. “I get a picture in my mind, almost like a story that I want to tell. I then jot it down and create the music to complete the picture.”

Lockdown… Lockdown was a drag for most of us, cooped up at home surrounded by the same old things, day in and day out, but this talented performer saw lockdown as an opportunity to do some serious internal work! “I used the time to get my home recording studio up and running. It was loads of fun refining my sound and working on new songs.”

An undeniable trait of Queen T is that she has soul, and lots of it too. “My faith and my family are very important to me. During lockdown, I spent a lot of time strengthening my bond with God and appreciating my family more, especially my mother. I admire her strength and dedication to family.”

What’s next? All artists have a dream to step onto an international stage, and this is certainly her ultimate goal. For now, she wants to focus her energy on sharpening her expertise.

“Writing and creating music is all I ever wanted to do, and I will spend the rest of my life doing what I love!” Oueen T new single: Love Lives Here https://orcd.co/queent
