Ladysmith KZN: An ocean of water goes down the drain

The issue has been reported daily, right up to the municipal manager, and still no repairs have been carried out

A massive burst pipe in Azalea Drive has seen countless litres of water go to waste.

The leak is just next to the road and there is so much water flowing out that it has created a veritable river seeping into the veld.

Many residents, along with Councillor Abbas Warasally, have reported the situation to uThukela, yet nothing has been done. Cllr Warasally is disappointed that after two weeks, uThukela has not attended to the problem. Furthermore, the issue has been reported daily, right up to the municipal manager, and still no repairs have been carried out. Cllr Warasally added that the result is that millions of litres of water is being wasted.

“The municipality always harps on about saving water, yet they can’t fix this burst pipe!”

Residents in the area say that water-shedding has just finished and with the way things are going, with all the burst pipes in town, we will end up back in the same boat – with no water.
