NEWCASTLE KZN: Residents urged to be vigilant of suspicious vehicle

The vehicle does not have a registration number but residents are urged to be vigilant.

Newcastle residents have been warned to be on the lookout for a suspicious white Toyota Corolla with four occupants inside, going house to house and claiming they are doing building inspections.

Morne Potgieter, of local security firm Ithemba Security said the vehicle has three females and one male inside.

“They were in a house in Hutten Heights just earlier and found a domestic worker. They were interrupted by the maintenance guy in whatever they were trying to do there. We suspect they send in the females to go in and scout the houses and see if there are people in the house. We urge domestic workers to not open gates to the premises to people they don’t know,” warned Potgieter.

Potgieter said the vehicle does not have a registration number and has urged residents to be vigilant, especially now approaching the festive season, which usually brings about more criminal activity.

Anyone who suspects suspicious behaviour around their area, can contact Ithemba Security’s 24-hour control room on 03432 64503. Alternatively, contact Morne Potgieter on 083 417 7454.
