A man was shot dead earlier this evening (November 20) in Van Riebeeck Park while out walking.
The incident took place just before 7.30pm, with community members reporting the incident to police after they spotted a body lying in the road in Van Riebeeck Street.
A security guard in the area told police he had heard two gunshots being fired.

It appears that the murder victim was not robbed of his belongings, as he had cash in his wallet and his pocket.
EMS responded and declared the man dead at the scene.
Police, Public Safety and the mortuary service also responded to the scene.
