NEWCASTLE KZN: Children’s plea to avoid becoming homeless

The Blignaut family has asked for help in order to avoid becoming homeless.

Keanu (19), Taryn (15) and Tristan (12) are picking up the pieces of their family and struggling to hold it together as their dad and sole provider, Mark Blignaut, lies in a hospital bed at Madadeni Provincial Hospital.

Mark (44) suffered serious injuries in a motorcyle accident on November 3 and has been in hospital ever since.

The children said while their dad is a bit more coherent, he has little mobility and even trying to sit up in bed is painful.

“His greatest concern is us… he keeps asking how he is going to provide for us in terms of food and rent without being able to work.” Keanu said they are naturally devastated about what has happened: “He is our world and he always puts others before himself.”

The children’s aunt, Bianca Taylor has helped the family set up a donation page on popular crowdfunding site, GoFundMe, in order to raise funds to allow the family to pay rent and survive until Mark is able to work again.
