DUNDEE: SAPS crack down on sex predators

These convictions and arrests were made at different areas in the province

Members of KZN SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in the province last month secured  10 life sentences for sexual related cases.

Captain Nqobile Gwala said in a statement to the Courier that ‘the team made sure that the justice is served to victims of sexual abuse.’

“A total of 34 convictions with 277 years were secured at various courts in the province. From October 1 to October 31, 409 suspects were arrested for various cases such as rape, sexual assault, statutory rape, child abandonment, kidnapping, attempted murder and other cases. These convictions and arrests were made at different areas in the province.”

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the sentences handed down to the culprits.

“As we are approaching the 16 Days of Activism, we will make sure that we leave no stone unturned in our endeavour to bring justice to victims of sexual offences ,” he said.
