VRYHEID: Tommy’s World Fair comes to town

With Covid-19 having shut down almost every aspect of life, the move to Alert Level 1 meant we could freely enjoy lots of activities we have not been able to for a long while. Tommy’s World Fair (TWF) seized this opportunity and brought Vryheiders (young and old alike) a long week of fun with their carnival, which boasts loads of exhilarating rides. TWF is a mobile theme park that operates within the KwaZulu-Natal region. It has been in operation for over 40 years and adheres to the most stringent safety standards. There are currently 14 rides in operation. They specialise in providing family-orientated entertainment. In essence, they promote communities and people of all ages to come together and enjoy themselves within a safe and secure environment, with staff who are fully trained and experienced to ensure the utmost safety of patrons. TWF prides itself for not being just a fun fair: “We are a playground for good-spirited fun and enjoyment, leaving our patrons with absolutely memorable experiences. As a trustworthy family business, our top priority is our patrons and the enjoyment they experience at our fair. This included a maximum of 500 patrons at a time, supervised by strict security officers on site, sanitizing stations, main office and ticket office. With each ride, patrons are sanitized before and after the ride, all staff wearing masks. No mask equals no ride! The equipment and seats of the rides are sanitized four times a day at four-hour intervals. Rides being offered at the Vryheid fun fair include: high roller, swing boat, big wheel, tornado, runaway train, spin doctor, convoy trucks, happy train, merry-go-round, samba balloon, as well as prize games such as knock ’em off, fishing, and shootin’ hoops, where you can test your skills and win a variety of awesomely cool prizes. We also have a tuck shop, stocked with all of your favourite fun fair snacks and treats such as candyfloss, popcorn and fizzy drinks, as well as a variety of fun fair food. The standard ticket price is R25, with free entry. These tickets need to be purchased in order to enjoy the rides. TWF offers a special price for their armbands, which entitles you to unlimited rides for the day. And the fun does not end there, as TWF also offers various packages specifically catering for the different needs schools may have; however, certain requirements have to be met before we can set up at a school.
