VRYHEID: Inkululeko welcomes Miriam onto their team

"You are loved, none of you are a mistake, and God has an amazing plan for each and every one of you"

Inkululeko Children’s Home is well-known in the community and is currently home to 20 orphaned children aged from 10 months to five years old. This non-profit organisation was established in 2002 and is overseen by the Ministry of Freedom Life Church.
During an emotional change of management function on Saturday morning at the Freedom Life Church, the staff of Inkululeko praised previous manager Maria Timm for her love, dedication and leadership during her term as manager. Maria was managing the children’s home since November 2010, but sadly she has decided to pass the baton on to Miriam Leveridge, who has been volunteering and involved at Inkululeko Children’s Home since it opened 18 years ago.
Maria says her season at the children’s home has passed and she needs a change; however she trusts in God to lead her to where she is needed next. Miriam Leveridge is overjoyed to take over from Maria and commended the excellent work she has done in the past 10 years; Miriam would like to follow her example. Miriam’s eyes light up while she tells her story to the Herald, especially when she passionately talks about the children at the home.
The children are very close to Miriam’s heart; she has an unquenchable passion for them and wants to place these orphans in the best possible permanent homes she can find.
Miriam herself fostered three of the children, as well as tried to adopt one at some stage, but the child went back to the family.
Miriam left her job of 15 years at a local optometrist to take on this new challenge, but she believes that God has prepared her for this over many years and that this is where
He placed her to work in His honour.
Even though Miriam felt a bit overwhelmed by her new duties, her daughter Juanita says that God doesn’t call on the equipped but forms you into the position into which He has called you.
Juanita continued by saying that Miriam has the heart for the job and the love for the children, and that there is no better person for the job.
Before closing the chapter, Maria Timm would like to leave the children with the following words:
“You are loved, none of you are a mistake, and God has an amazing plan for each and every one of you”.
The home is currently in need of camp cot mattresses, beds, nappies (number 2, 3, 4 and 5) wet wipes, formula (Infacare number 2 and Isomil number 3) and non-perishable foods. Any financial assistance or donations towards the running of the home is welcome. Anyone who is interested in donating any of the above items can contact Miriam on 078-247-9141 or 034-980-0526.
