Ladysmith KZN: Man stabbed to death in Colenso

The deceased was found lying on the pavement with a stab wound to the left shoulder and one to the lower back

A quiet Sunday afternoon in the small town of Colenso turned bloody when a man was viciously killed.

Colenso police were called to the scene of the crime in Third Avenue on Sunday, October 25.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been stabbed to death. It is alleged that the victim was from Tugela Vale and was attending a traditional function at a home in Inkanyezi Township.

The victim was seen arguing with suspects known in the area. The altercation allegedly took place inside the home and then continued outside in a nearby road. Witnesses claim they saw the suspects fleeing the scene with blood on their hands.

The deceased was found lying on the pavement with a stab wound to the left shoulder and one to the lower back. The victim was certified dead at the scene.

Colenso police opened a murder docket and within a short period of time, two suspects who were allegedly seen running away from the crime scene were arrested and detained in Colenso.

Both suspects appeared in the Colenso Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, October 27, for a bail application and were denied.

They are set to appear in court again soon for another bail application.

The murder is currently being investigated by Colenso SAPS.
