There have been at least eight serious accidents and multiple entrapments, including one fatality, on the N11 this afternoon. The incidents have reportedly occurred near the northern section of the Majuba Pass and at Laingsnek.
The reports have been confirmed by Chief Traffic Officer for Community Safety (Newcastle Municipality), Ashok Anandhaw.

Anandhaw has cautioned motorists making use of this part of the N11 to drive cautiously, or preferably to avoid the route entirely, due to poor visibility and ‘slippery’ roads. Motorists in general are advised to travel with care in these rainy conditions.
