Ladysmith KZN: Durban Tourism and ECR bring Durbs to town

The team set up a fun-filled arena in a shopping centre parking lot, with hundreds of people turning up

Ladysmith was a hive of activity on Friday last week (October 23), with Durban Tourism and East Coast Radio (ECR) coming in town.

The Durban Tourism team’s aim was for people to re-discover Durban, post-Covid-19.

As part of a recovery plan to get tourism going again, they have embarked on an activation programme where they travel to other towns to share the Durban experience.

One of these lucky towns was our very own Ladysmith.

The team set up a fun-filled arena at a shopping centre parking lot, with hundreds of people turning up for the event. There were loads of prizes up for grabs, with a spin ‘n win competition after playing a short game of Pacman. The prizes included T-shirts, sunglasses, umbrellas and cooler boxes.

Many local residents, both young and old, got to see ECR DJ Minnie Ntuli, who was broadcasting live right here in Ladysmith. The team from the Creativity Lab made sure that everything ran smoothly on the day and if you were there, you had a chance to get your photo taken and printed out immediately.

There were also rickshaw rides and an open-top rickshaw bus where you could go and take photos. The day was enjoyed by all who attended – what a great way to start off the summer season!
