Ladysmith KZN: uThukela tackles water problems in Bluebank

"We have plans to install boreholes around the district" - Mayor Mazibuko told the community

On Wednesday (October 14), uThukela District Mayor Siphiwe Mazibuko visited community members in the Bluebank area under Alfred Duma Local Municipality, who had complaints about water provision.

The mayor was accompanied by uThukela Speaker Cllr Strydom, Ward Councillor Sokhela and the technical team. The biggest concern for Bluebank residents is the shortage of water in the area.

The mayor informed the community that uThukela’s core function is to provide water and sanitation.

“We also have plans to install boreholes around the district,” said Mayor Mazibuko. He then assured everyone that they will get water and that he will send the technical team this coming week to assess the windmill the community suggested as a means to help them have a water supply.

The team also did an oversight visit to a nearby steel tank. The 250-kilo-litre tank with four stand pumps is complete; the only challenge is to ‘energise’ it.
