DUNDEE: Driver’s narrow escape after attempted hijacking

SAPS have been contacted and are investigating

A truck driver had a narrow escape on Saturday morning when a group of men tried to hijack his vehicle and threw a rock at the windscreen.

The Chan’s Transport truck was on its way to Piet Retief to deliver conveyor belting when the driver was confronted by a group of men travelling in a Golf on the Dundee/Vryheid road, past the Talana Museum. They drew firearms and attempted to force the driver to stop.

He managed to drive off but not before a rock was thrown at the truck. SAPS were contacted.
