NEWCASTLE: Suspected drug dealers busted in Osizweni

Three suspected drug dealers appeared in court on October 2, on charges of drug possession and drug dealing.

A joint operation earlier this month has resulted in the arrest of three suspected drug dealers.

On October 1, Osizweni Crime Prevention members and the Newcastle Cluster Task Team conducted an intelligence driven operation. They followed leads to a house in Section E, where two suspects were arrested for the possession of dagga and dealing in drugs.

Approximately 2,7 kilograms of dry, loose dagga and 336 ‘pokes’ of dagga (weighing around 5,6kg) were recovered.

The team then moved to a house in Section A, where one suspect was arrested for the possession of whoonga (nyaope). 11 small bags of whoonga were seized as well as R160 in cash.

The three suspected drug dealers, aged 26, 28 and 29, appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on October 2.
