Ladysmith: From actor to writer and film-maker
Sphamandla got his book published on the Internet as an E-book at the beginning of this year
Ladysmith KZN – “We can only connect the dots looking backwards” are the often-repeated words of the great Steve Jobs in the hope that everything works for the better in life.
With that in mind, let’s take a moment to reflect on Sphamandla Nzama, who was born and bred on the dusty streets of Ezakheni, a township famous for producing world-renown music group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
And now we have Sphamandla, a visionary who shaped his desire for the entertainment industry by holiday visits in Johannesburg, where he spent quality time living and learning from hostel dwellers.
The 24-year-old’s desire and determination has led him to appear as a background actor in two South African television shows, namely ‘Isidingo’ and ‘The Queen’.

Seeing his dreams reflect a spark of success has stimulated his unconditional love for the entertainment industry and led him to focus on script writing and acting. Presented with a chance, he grabbed the opportunity to produce his first drama called ‘Good Girls Gone Bad’.
At the beginning of this year, Sphamandla was selected by a well-known publishing company in South Africa called ViaAfrika and got his book published on the Internet as an E-book. “I have my heart set on becoming a South African actor, writer, film-maker and author,” says Sphamandla.
