ESTCOURT: Burglars loot man’s home

The value of the stolen items was estimated at over R20,000

When a Cornfields homeowner returned from a week-long trip, he was met with a distressing scene.

His home was in a state of disarray and it soon became obvious that he had become the victim of a burglary.

According to a police report, the man, who lives next to Lwande Bottle Store, left home at about 3pm on September 12. He returned on September 18 at about 8am to discover that his home had been ransacked and clothing, blankets and a bed had been stolen.

Police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi reported that the value of the stolen items was estimated at over R20,000.

“He opened a case at Estcourt police station. No arrests have been made at the moment and police are requesting anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to call 08600-10111 or make use of the ‘MySAPS’ app,” added Captain Nyathi.
