Ladysmith: Spate of armed robberies in town

With Christmas around the corner, robberies are on the increase

Ladysmith KZN – This morning (October 5), five armed men held up the staff at Value Cash and Carry in Illing Road and made off with a large sum of money.

The armed men entered the store and held staff at gunpoint before searching the premises.

The men also disarmed a security guard, making off with his firearm as well as a large sum of cash.

There has been a spate of armed robberies in town in the last week or two, which has alarmed local shop owners.

In one robbery, K9 Unit officers opened fire on two fleeing suspects, killing one and wounding the other.
