Grade 11 learners Luyanda Khumalo and Snamandla Nhleko also received bronze, as did Timothy Pretorius in Grade 12. Kwanele Sangweni in Grade 12 did exceptionally well and achieved a silver certificate.

Last Friday, Sarel Cilliers staff received training after school, with guest speakers from the Department of Education. The training started with a message on how to maintain a positive mindset, focusing on staff health and wellness in current difficult Covid-19 circumstances (from Mrs Lekhobo), followed by a reminder of how to maintain discipline in class, with valuable insight on the correct procedures to follow in serious cases where students transgress and disciplinary procedures are implemented (from Mrs Myeza).

Sarel Cilliers would like to thank the guest speakers from the Department of Education for their valuable contributions to the training. SGM chairperson Bishop Xaba gave an uplifting speech on student counselling, with school staff Mr Soobramoney, Mrs Maree, Miss de Lange and Mr Slabbert sharing their experiences and expertise on identifying and preventing bullying at school, as well as maintaining discipline and establishing mutual respect in the classroom.
