Ladysmith: KZN Premier visits elderly citizens

Imagine a KZN free from gender-based violence

Ladysmith KZN –  ‘Pandemics: Do they change how we address age and aging?’ was the slogan of the day when KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala visited Ladysmith’s elderly residents to celebrate their day with them, as October 1 is commemorated as ‘International Day for Senior Citizens’.

Elderly people gathered together at Ladysmith’s Indoor Sports Complex to celebrate the occasion and also voice their grievances to the KZN Premier.

“The Older People’s Act should be used to protect senior citizens; it is our duty to protect older people. Imagine a KZN free of youngsters who use drugs and a KZN free of gender-based violence against women, children and older people… that could be a KZN moving forward,” said Sihle Zikalala.
