Ladysmith: Municipality issues plea to keep town clean

A R5000 fine will be instituted should you be found guilty of littering

Ladysmith KZN – “A clean town is a crime-free area” says Alfred Duma Local Municipality. The local municipality, in its efforts to curb littering, has urged the residents of Ladysmith to please take extra care when it comes to looking after our town and keeping it spotlessly clean.

“We would like to urge all businesses, in and out of the CBD, to please adhere to taking out refuse on the regular refuse collection dates” reads a media statement issued by Alfred Duma Chief Whip Cllr Njapha. The media release continues that, “A plea to all members of the community is to please make use of all the bins that are provided within the CBD and avoid unnecessary littering.”

Council has bylaw enforcement officers who are on the ground to enforce strict penalties should people be caught littering.

Furthermore, the municipality says that grant beneficiaries who collect their payouts at the post office must make use of all the rubbish bins that are provided for waste and leftover food.
