The Newcastle Donor Centre is bracing itself for good turnout tomorrow on Heritage Day (September 24).
After a difficult week for the Northern KwaZulu-Natal region of SANBS (South African National Blood Service) during the inter-branch challenge, donors are urged to visit the Newcastle Donor Centre or the clinic at Theku Plaza on Thursday, between 9am and 2pm.
Donors will receive a token of appreciation for their efforts – and more importantly, help save the lives of hospital patients.
“Help someone live a life filled with joy, love and hope. Join us and donate blood…”
Donor Relations Practitioner, Shavani Sewpaul explained previously the inter-branch challenge runs from September 7 to 30, and NKZN is determined to claim the bragging rights.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must:
- Be free of any cold and flu symptoms
- Be between the ages of 16 and 75
- Weigh more than 50kg
- Be in good health
- Lead a healthy lifestyle
- Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient.
