DUNDEE: Dave puts the fun back into hair

With business being so quiet in the hospitality industry this year because of the lockdown, Dave believes the R10 000 'will go down really well'.

Hair has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons.

But Dave O’ Halloran has put the fun back into hair by growing his fine dark locks.

The general manager of Battlefields Country Lodge and Sports Resort is sporting hair that is now well over his collar – which has surprised many, as Dave is known as a military man (he held the rank of Major in the Citizen Force and was previously deployed in the Congo) with a very trimmed hairstyle.

“The lockdown has changed many things,” he smiled. Some months ago, Dave and some friends were chatting and Dave grumbled about not being able to get his hair cut due to the lockdown.

“The conversation went on and eventually I was in a bet not to cut my hair for R1000.

Some weeks went by – after the hairdressers re-opened – and the bet is now R10 000 if I don’t cut my hair by the end of the year. I have always had and enjoyed short hair, so I am not sure what it will look like at the end of 2020.”

With business being so quiet in the hospitality industry this year because of the lockdown, Dave believes the R10 000 ‘will go down really well’. But knowing Dave, it is thought that the R10 000 – if he manages to hold on – will be spread around to add some ‘style to the end of this horror year’.
