Ladysmith: Bank hands over modular unit to curb the scourge of Covid-19

Ladysmith KZN – On Wednesday (September 16), the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) handed over a multi-purpose modular unit that will assist in testing and screening for the coronavirus (Covid-19), as well as other diseases.
 
uThukela District Municipality Mayor Siphiwe Mazibuko, Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala, the Department of Health (DoH), as well as other stakeholders gathered at the St Chad’s Community Health Centre to receive the modular unit.
 
“We appreciate the work they have done. We also appreciate the donation by the DBSA to the district, as this will enable the community to benefit from the service. The unit will assist us not only when it comes to Covid-19, but also all other diseases that are affecting our district as well. The lives of our people matter and we will continue fighting this pandemic,” said uThukela District Mayor Siphiwe Mazibuko.
 
The following day (September 17), the mayors of Ladysmith conducted Covid-19 screening and tests, leading from the front to illustrate to members of the public the importance of curbing the scourge and flattening the curve of the virus.
 
Mayor Madlala said he appreciates the modular unit that was handed to the district, saying it will benefit the community of uThukela as per the mandate that every citizen has a right to life.
