NEWCASTLE – WATCH: Suspect steals job vacancy box from Newcastle Municipality

The Newcastle Municipality has categorically stated that its jobs are not for sale.

The Newcastle Municipality has issued an urgent notice to residents to assist in locating a suspect who stole the municipal job vacancy drop-box this morning (September 21).

According to Head of Communications for Newcastle Municipality, Mlungisi Khumalo, video footage shows the suspect took the box at around 10.30am.

“At this stage it is not clear whether the suspect was working alone or had assistance. The municipality believes the suspect will target unsuspecting job applicants and will try to solicit money from them for jobs in return,” said Khumalo.

The suspect was wearing a yellow mask, white hat, blue jeans, black sneakers and a grey jersey.

“Members of the public with information are urged to contact the municipality or Newcastle police. Jobs at the Newcastle Municipality are NOT for sale! Please report fraud and corruption at the municipality,” he concluded.

The Communications Department sent the video below to show how the suspect made off with the vacancy box:
