ESTCOURT: Teenager rescued from mountain trail after severe dehydration

“ER24 paramedics were on scene at 4.30pm to help treat the patient who was found to be severely dehydrated but otherwise stable"

Joint efforts to rescue a young man from the Drakensberg mountain yesterday (September 19) were successful. It is reported that an 18-year-old man was hiking in the mountainous region close to the  Dragon Peaks Resort when he started to experience difficulties.

“It is believed that teenager became dehydrated on a much longer than expected hike with friends. He then started experiencing chest pains,” explained ER24 spokesperson Ross Campbell.

Westline Aviation along with Mountain Rescue Medics responded to the call for help, airlifting the man from the trail to their base in the foothills of the mountain where they were met by the ER24 team.
