Ladysmith: Windsor ‘Class of 1980’ reunites

Ex-students got together to celebrate with their former class mates and loved ones

Ladysmith KZN – 40 years after matriculating, the classmates in Windsor Secondary School’s ‘Class of 1980’ have proven that they can still keep the candlelight and campfire burning in the name of love and true friendship, so to speak.

Windsor’s ‘Class of 1980’ recently held a reunion party where the ex-students got together to celebrate with their families and loved ones. The reunion was held at the Ezulwini Berg Resort, where they gathered to unwind, look back on the journey they have travelled since high school, and most of all celebrate friendships that have grown throughout the years.

“This has to bring cheer and a smile to the ‘Class of 1980’ for a remarkably successful 40-year celebration in the midst of Covid-19,” said reunion organiser AK Essop.

Big thanks to all the people who participated in this highly successful calendar event amid the doom and gloom of Covid-19. It was indeed history in the making! “In times like these, the strength of love, affection and sincerity prevails and has overshadowed the horror that surrounds us,” said one smiling reunion-goer who loved seeing all the old faces and some new ones too.

The ‘Class of 1980’ also took time to thank their sponsors who made it all possible.

“Thanks for your kindness and overwhelming generosity. A very special thank you to Shuaib Asmal from One Stop Computers, Ahmed Vawda from Liberty Cash & Carry, Ebrahim Moola from AK’s Hyper, and Juneid Asmal  from Total Oasis. Extremely grateful to you,” added AK Essop.
