Ladysmith: Robbers storm into Kandahar Avenue business with firearms drawn

Cell-phones, cash, various types of cigarettes and airtime was stolen

Ladysmith KZN – A business in Kandahar Avenue was robbed by armed thugs on Saturday evening, September 5, at about 7pm.

A supermarket owner was sitting with a friend when about five gunmen stormed into the shop. Several of them were armed and waved their guns in the owner’s face.

They ordered the business owner and his friend to the back of the store, before they were made to lie down on the floor. As this was happening, the doors to the store were closed.

The two victims were robbed of three cell-phones. Cash, various types of cigarettes and airtime was also stolen. The gun-wielding robbers left the scene with the stolen items.

No arrests have yet been made and Ladysmith police are investigating a case of business robbery. At this stage, police say it is not clear if this is an organised group that committed the crime.

The SAPS are requesting anyone with information that could help trace and arrest the suspects to come forward.

The toll-free 0860010111 number or the ‘MySAPS’ app can be used to contact the police in your time of need, or to report an incident, or assist police with the above case.
