ESTCOURT: Hunger alleviation project reaches hundreds more people

Vehicles loaded with food essentials were destined for four wards, where a total of 200 large food parcels were distributed to the community

The cold and wet weather did not deter the team from the Gift of the Givers Estcourt branch when they set off to bring relief to hundreds of people in Ladysmith recently.

Vehicles loaded with food essentials were destined for four wards, where a total of 200 large food parcels were distributed to the community on September 1.

The areas that were visited included Matiwane, Burford, Lime Hill and the Catholic Mission Old Age Home, which is also known as St Antonine’s Home for the Aged.

“We distributed parcels to the surrounding community and also donated bulk parcels to the home. We were accompanied by Soojat Khan, who assisted us,” commented Gift of the Givers Estcourt community liaison Jaaved Khan.

The distribution in Ladysmith was part of the Covid-19 hunger alleviation food parcel project, which has already benefited thousands of people.
