Vryheid KZN: Fake doctor finally nabbed

The suspect confessed that he is part of an alleged syndicate operation

eNkonjeni Hospital in Mahlabatini lodged a complaint regarding a suspect who posed as a doctor for three months and later disappeared with some of the workers’ cash, which amounts to R40,000.
The ‘doctor’ never raised any suspicions while he was working; it only came to light when he suddenly disappeared with the money. The team of investigators finally made a breakthrough and arrested the suspect on August 31 at Ntinini in Babanango.
When a team of officers went to the suspect’s homestead in eMondlo, they found a tertiary gown, two telescopes that had a different doctor’s name on them, two cell-phones, a few copies of Unisa certificates of different people, and a tag for another doctor.
The suspect confessed that he is part of an alleged syndicate operation. He also confessed that he is a first-year medical student who dropped out and that he was also working as a reverend who was allegedly paid by the Council of Churches RSA.
The suspect is wanted for similar fraud cases in Secunda and Mamelodi East. He was detained in Vryheid at first and then transferred to Secunda to enable them to finalise their cases.
