Ezakheni Water Treatment Works to be shut down for refurbishment

Minimal interruptions in water supply are expected to take place

uThukela District Municipality would like to inform residents of the planned shutdown of the Ezakheni Water Treatment Works by uMngeni Water.

According to a statement released by uThukela: “The purpose of the shutdown is to allow more time for the uMngeni Water asset management team to tie in the new manifold and three new pump sets as part of the ongoing refurbishment project. The anticipated required time for the tie-in is 18 hours.”

The shutdown is scheduled to start from 8am tomorrow (Tuesday, September 1).

18 hours is the maximum anticipated time for the tie-in and if concluded sooner, the plant will be brought back on line as soon as the process is complete.

“Minimal interruptions are expected to take place, as uMngeni Water are doing everything in their power to make sure everyone has water during this period,” said uThuleka communications manager Jabulani Mkhonza.
