This clean-up operation is part of the local municipality’s plan to keep public places spic-and-span for those who use them.

On August 6, a group from Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality’s youth office, public participation and waste management teamed up with volunteers from Simunye Youth Development Projects and headed to Weenen.

At the landfill site, the team got to work cleaning up and sorting the large amounts of waste.

The team also hosted a Covid-19 awareness campaign. Here, they encouraged the community to keep their environment clean, wear face masks, wash their hands often, and maintain social distancing.
