JUST IN: Gas cylinder explodes at Arbor Park home

No injuries were reported.

A gas cylinder, connected to a cooking stand, went up in flames at an Arbor Park home this afternoon (August 18).

According to sources, the cylinder exploded when it was turned on. A quick-thinking domestic worker then kicked the cylinder into the driveway to prevent the flames from spreading to the house.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation, but could possibly be due to the expansion of the cylinder or a faulty valve.

While no injuries were reported, paramedics and Fire Services were called to assist at the scene. Firefighters first cooled the cylinder down with hoses, until they were able to shut the gas off.
