‘AK 47’ man arrested by SAPS

SAPS have made a breakthrough against criminals in recent weeks

A SAPS investigation saw Ladysmith’s Tactical Response Team trace a suspect, who was in possession of an AK 47 rifle, to Nquthu where he was arrested. Ten live rounds were also seized. The man was detained in Nquthu police cells and he will appear soon in Nquthu Magistrate’s Court for bail application.

SAPS spokesperson, Brigadier Bantham, is ‘very happy’ about the way TRT and other SAPS Unit members like Ladysmith K9 Unit, Stocktheft Unit and FCS Unit as well as uThukela District Detectives from uThukela District stations are getting the good results.

“Recently all our Units members from uThukela District are getting good results. They arrested a lot of criminals including suspects who committed rapes, robberies, assaults, house-breakings, car-jackings, stocktheft and others even those who are not complying with lockdown rules,” she concluded.
