Water supply in areas in and around Estcourt is expected to stabilise from today (July 24).
This is as uThukela District Municipality staff return to work while negotiations regarding a labour dispute continue.

Widespread water interruptions were experienced yesterday (July 23) when water plants were left unattended as district staff converged in Ladysmith to address labour concerns.
“The meeting that was held yesterday afternoon between organised labour and management at uThukela District Municipality offices had some positive outcomes, though not entirely conclusive,” said uThukela District Municipality’s communication manager Jabulani Mkhonza.
He said that the Archie Roddel and George Cross Water Treatment Works resumed pumping water to the reservoirs.
Estcourt Hospital as well as industrial areas were receiving water yesterday.
“Other areas like Forderville, Papkuilsfontein, Colita, Esigodlweni, Wembezi, etc are expected to receive normal water supply by today,” he added.
However, the labour dispute has not ended.
“One of the resolutions was that personal protective equipment (PPE) will be delivered as from today up until next week. But there will also be another meeting scheduled for next week to iron out other outstanding issues,” Mr Mkhonza said.
