Sarie Krüger, one of Newcastle’s most selfless stalwarts, passed away on Monday night after a brief period of illness.
Tannie Sarie is perhaps best known for her tenures with various organisations and committees including Solidariteit Helpende Hand (Solidarity), where her concern for others was always evident.
In paying her tribute, residents have called Tannie Sarie an angel and describe her as deeply empathetic and caring.
The Newcastle Advertiser is also planning a tribute, for an upcoming edition.
