Frustrated family of murdered man blocks off road

Family of murdered Sabelo Eric Dubazane wants justice

Following months of waiting for DNA results for murdered Sabelo Eric Dubazane (26), his family and community members have taken drastic steps.

Ward 15 Councillor Thokozani Dubazane, who is Sabelo’s grandfather, says that they decided to block off the road in Lochsloy this morning (July 21), in the hope that it would draw the attention of the police and prompt them to speed up the investigation so that they can bury Sabelo.

“Sabelo went missing on November 29, 2019. We found his body near a railway line close to Ultra City on December 30. The police said they would be conducting DNA tests. Since then we have not heard anything. It’s been seven months. We want the police to speed up the process so we can bury our child,” said Cllr Dubazane.

He added that no arrests have been made but stated that “the suspects are known, we pass each other often.”

Yesterday (July 20) Cllr Dubazane went to the police station wanting to open a charge against Police Minister Bheki Cele, however he says he was advised to return with an attorney.
