Ladysmith teenager loses everything in shack fire
"I was left with the clothes I was wearing"
Zamokuhle Mathe (19) from the Shayamoya area in Tsakane has lost the place he called home after his shack burned down on Monday, July 6.
He told a Ladysmith Gazette reporter that to date, he doesn’t know what caused the fire, as he was not inside the shack when the blaze started.

“On the fateful day of the fire, my grandmother sent me to a nearby tuck shop to buy bread for her. Before I even got to the shop, I received a call to inform me that my house was on fire.
“When I looked up at the sky, I saw smoke and ran back.
“It was already too late by the time I got there. I lost everything in the fire; my books and uniform all went up in flames. I was left with the clothes I was wearing,” said a devastated Zamokuhle.
