18 things not to do for Mandela Day- Part One

Whether it is bomb threats, litter or public urination the below things should NOT be done for Mandela Day.

Mandela Day is here and many good Samaritans have done their bit to follow in Madiba’s footsteps.

While it always a good idea to do something positive for those 67 minutes, here’s a list of stuff you shouldn’t do.

1. Don’t, I repeat, don’t steal cars

With the recent spate of car thefts and thefts in cars this makes number one. We all know the rand is low but don’t! rather opt for buying a bicycle it is cheaper, reduces your carbon footprint and won’t put you behind bars.

2. Put up Abortion Posters

Yes please don’t put up abortion posters rather abort them.

3. Party in parks and leave behind mountains of litter, used condoms among other things.

Mandela Day is a day for celebration of the life and legacy of Mandela. Not a day for wild parties which annoy residents to the point of no return.

4. Litter

5. Urinate in Public

Peeing in public is a problem . So say no to #relieving yourself in public.

6.  Play loud music

They say if the music is too loud, you’re too old. But this does not apply if your music is blaring out of speakers on street corners.

7. Don’t attack tourists

Ever heard of the push-pull effect of Tourism? If so don’t misconstrue it, push factors (making tourists leave the country) are for eg. a dying economy not being inhospitable to tourists.

8.  Start a function five hours late

If you do, this will happen (above). The only guests who bother to stay will be those who frequent the kitchen and die by the hands of doom(cockroaches).

9. Don’t threaten to bomb people

No, this is a crime and punishable by law.
