uThukela warns of water cuts due to power challenges

The Golf Course Reservoir will be switched off from 8pm to 5am

uThukela District Municipality has issued a statement alerting Ladysmith residents to prepare for water cuts due to power challenges they are experiencing…

According to the statement from uThukela Communications Manager Jabulani Mkhonza: Due to the low electrical supply from Alfred Duma Local Municipality /Eskom, we cannot run our units at full capacity. Therefore, we have no choice but to switch off our Golf Course Reservoir in order to build up storage. The pump will be switched off at 8pm (tonight, July 12) and switched back on at 5am tomorrow morning. We therefore request that community members store enough water and use it sparingly, as we are trying to overcome the electrical problems we are currently experiencing.
