RTI Newcastle offices closed until further notice

An unofficial source said it was likely service would resume later this week.

An unofficial source has confirmed the RTI (Road Traffic Inspectorate) Newcastle office will be closed until the building has been decontaminated.

Motorists hoping to take advantage of the quieter weekends to renew motor vehicle or drivers licenses were turned away by security, while signs indicated service would resume early this week, after it was rumoured an official tested positive for Covid-19.

An inside source said it was possible the office would re-open tomorrow, but said it was more likely service would only resume on Tuesday (July 14) as sanitisation still needed to take place.
